Who Invented CBD Oil?

The history of CBD oil can be traced back to the 1940s, when a scientist named Roger Adams isolated cannabidiol (CBD) for the first time. Adams, an American chemist at the University of Illinois, discovered CBD while attempting to isolate the active ingredients in the cannabis plant.

However, it is not entirely accurate to say that Dr. Roger Adams "invented" CBD oil. CBD had been used for centuries in traditional medicine and it existed naturally in the hemp plant. Dr. Adams and his team were the first to identify and isolate CBD chemically which paved the way for further research on the compound.

It wasn't until the 1960s that the real potential of CBD began to be studied in depth. Dr. Raphael Mechoulam, an Israeli organic chemist, and his team were the first to synthesize CBD and THC, and to study the structure and function of the endocannabinoid system in the human body. This research opened the door to understanding how CBD and other compounds in the hemp plant interact with the body, and laid the foundation for much of the research that is being done today.

It was not until the late 1990s, early 2000s when CBD oil products began to appear on the market, and the popularity of CBD oil has grown rapidly in recent years, with many companies now producing and selling their own CBD oil products.

In conclusion, the discovery of CBD oil can be attributed to Dr. Roger Adams, who isolated CBD for the first time in the 1940s, but the deeper understanding and studies on the compound came with the research of Dr. Raphael Mechoulam and his team in the 1960s. This research opened the door to understanding how CBD and other compounds in the hemp plant interact with the body, and laid the foundation for the development of the CBD oil products we have today.
